Pertinent with the objectives of the Act of
Parliament No. 2 of 1990 and consistent with the
organization structure, NHC's business portfolio has
been expanded to include the following activities:-
Property Management
This is NHC's traditional and major income
earning business which involve the management of
its rental buildings including repair and
maintenance. This activity, which is under the
Directorate of Property Management, presently
generates 80 per cent of the total income.

• Management of its rental buildings including
repairs and maintenance.
• NHC Establishment Act 1990 review of 2005 has
directed that it operates Commercially.
• Presently generated 88% of the total income.
• A General Rental review Programme is being
effected aiming at Market Rents levels.
• Manages a total of 16,021 rental units being
5,231 commercial and 10,790 Residential units as
at 30th June, 2006.
• Maintenance is carried on a Five Year
Maintenance Programme executed on yearly Action
Plan basis together with routine and emergencies
attendances.
• An average of 25% of Rental Income is set aside
annually for maintenance and repairs
Construction of Houses for Sale
This activity is managed by the Directorate of
Property Development. The activity is currently
available to contribute 12 per cent of total income.
Nevertheless, it has a very big growth potential
given the high demand for housing in Urban Tanzania.
This is the major role of NHC.
Contract Business
NHC's Directorate of Property Development is registered
as a Building Contractor Class II with the Contractors
Registration Board. Presently, the contract business
contributes about 7 per cent of the total income.
The activity also has a great growth potential
in view of the booming construction sector in
Tanzania. We call upon private and public Institutions
to join hands with NHC by giving it contract works
for the betterment of all.
Consultancy Services
These Services are under the Directorate of Property
Development. The Division of Consultancy offers
the under mentioned services to NHC (at cost)
as well as to the general Public. These services
